That iconic final scene in the John Hughes cult-classic "The Breakfast Club" where the character of Judd Nelson raises his fist, then the infectious chant-like strains of "Don't You (Forget About Me)" play on towards the movie ending and closing credits... That memorable scene in 1985 opened the world's minds and ears to the burgeoning and bustling soundscape of Simple Minds. Formed in 1977 in Glasgow Scotland, Simple Minds were already making a name for themselves in the UK since 1982 with successful chart-hitting singles like "Promised You a Miracle" (1982), "Glittering Prize" (1982), "Someone Somewhere in Summertime" (1982), "Waterfront" (1983). As they broke new grounds worldwide in 1985, they continued to scale nrrrrew heights with a succession of colossal hits like "Alive and Kicking" (1985), "Sanctify Yourself" (1986), "Let There Be Love" (1991), "She's a River" (1995), "Belfast Child" (1989). Simple Minds has sold over 60 million albums globally and has received honors and awards from the Ivor Novello Award, MTV Video Music Awards, Brit Awards, American Music Awards, and British Academy of Songwriters, Composers, and Authors (BASCA), for their outstanding merits in music. The band's most recent outing is the Ruby Anniversary 9-track edition of "Once Upon A Time". Lead vocalist and original founding member Jim Kerr says:
“Hindsight is a glorious thing!” 40 years on and it now feels right for Simple Minds to have ‘Don’t You (Forget About Me)’ included in this classy new nine-track edition of Once Upon A Time.”
Simple Minds' 2025 tour kicks-off in March, covering key cities and states across North America, including Canada.
“Been a while but absence makes the heart grow fonder,” says Jim Kerr. “Simple Minds are ecstatic at the prospect of touring so extensively in the US and Canada this coming Spring.”
